I have been looking for a leather wrapped steering wheel for my first gen for a little while now with no luck. I cant seem to give 700 to have it re-wrapped or 850 for a new one from Toyota so I am on to other avenues. I have found plenty of 2nd gen wheels and was thinking I might try this. I havent found any info on anyone that has done this, (besides the corolla and supra steering wheel conversion), or knows much about it so,...

All i'm looking for is thoughts on whether or not you think it can be done relatively easy. If I get more yes's than no's, I will go ahead and buy the parts and give it a try. I will be sure to write up a short how-to as well which should be very short because I have already taken mine off and it took about 5 minutes, lol. Thanks for all the replies in advance.

Did you use a steering wheel puller? Or were you able to remove it by hand?

I just bought a Celica wheel to install, but I haven't removed my Tacoma wheel yet. I'm just wondering if I need to rent a puller from an auto parts store.

I didn't need one. I just loosened the main nut and rocked it a bit. Then I took the nut off and had to use a bit of muscle to pull it off. It shouldn't be much of a problem.
