I decided to go ahead replace the gasket for the timing cover leak because mine was bad, anyways it was a job thats for sure. After 2 attempts of trying to put the cover on and lining it up with crankshaft I used all the oem gasket maker from rock auto. Running out of options I finally had a buddy help me for an extra set of hands and picked up pentax ultra black and sealed around everything including the water inlet and outlets. I hope this ok and if not will some body drive to my house and shoot me. I Have it curing over night and engine should be fully assembled tomorrow. Basically am I wrong for doing this and will it be ok to run my Truck.

Don't see why it wouldn't be fine.

Thanks for the boost of confidence. It seemed like everything was goin wrong when I tried to put the cover back on. I broke the o-ring on the oil pump by the oil pan and picked a metric one at the parts store that was just smidgen thicker but seemed to fit good. hopefullly it will hold to. Sometimes I really miss my 3.4 :(

Just make sure all is Torqued to spec and should be good, that other oring seems questionable though, sorry for buzz kill. Only time will tell. Meh if it doesn't work order oem parts and make a weekend out of it.
