I had the same issue with my local dealer, after they inspected my truck they said that they never heard of the problem and that the issue wasn't with my model only the 2008's,even though my springs were same recalled ones. They told me that they would have a service person call me back and I have been waiting for a call back/update to my issue and they still haven't called me back. The next step for me is to keep calling the 800 # and keep BITCHING to the Mother F**kers until they break.

Just be careful. I had my Customer Service Manager threaten to call 911 if I showed up. Of course, this was after he said he'd hang up on me when I asked for his manager, and I promptly replied that I'd just have to come up there and he could deal with me in person. Apparently, they don't like when you get upset with them on their not holding up their end of the bargain. Correct me if I'm wrong...but that's what Customer Service is...the "pressure valve" for us to blow off our steam when we feel we've been treated badly.

And btw, the TSB ISN'T for a model year; its the bad part (leaf spring packs) and the years models that they were known to be installed in. If those same parts show up in a 2009, that's an even bigger mistake. Bad in an 08, bad in an 09. Unless of course, someone is suggesting that the 09's are lighter and have less load capacity. :der:

That's stupid. You'll get much better results approaching it like an adult than throwing a tantrum.

Go up there and *discuss* it with them. Find out why the won't do it and take the issue to the person than can overrule that reason or decision and lobby them. If that doesn't work, keep moving up the chain.

People, most dealers will work with you if you work with them. Gotta give a little to get a little.

Agreed, but sometimes, you have to yell. Take it from a former Customer Service Dept. Manager for various Navy weapon systems. Anyone in a service industry will tell you that there's a little game that's played between customer and service provider. That game is to see who has the lowest pain threshold and can make the other person go away the fastest.

The issue is that they fail to live up to their end of the bargain...be it ensuring we receive what we pay for or to simply providing the customer service you'd expect (within reason). I think a big problem is that we tend to be way too docile in expressing our displeasure. And now, for some reason, people get their feelings hurt when you are blunt or direct. Bottom line, we paid for something, we want it, and we don't want any crap (lowered voice or not) when we ask for it. Truth be told it should never come to the point where we have to demand it.

I respect everyone's opinion, this is just mine. It's easy to be benevolent after the fact or never the fact...harder to do when you are in the midst of the situation and feeling both dismissed and cheated.

BTW, if it makes anyone feel any better, this isn't just us. My boss has an 09 Nissan Altima and all the windows mysteriously roll down WHILE ITS RAINING. He researched the problem and found over 100 pages of postings with people having the same issue. His dealership and Nissan are claiming there's no known issue and they've NEVER heard of this before.

At least our interiors aren't getting wet and we don't have to post a rain watch on our vehicles...

Check the part numbers and compare the VDS# groupings to see if your VIN matches.

    Micke -

Yes, there are times to be flat out open about how pissed off you are - I'm just saying take the assertive approach first. Let them know you won't be bullied, but you're not trying to get anything from them unfairly. Make it clear you just want what was owed.

Sorry Im kinda new here. I figure that the parts will be marked with the numbers. But in regards to VDS# groupings to see if my VIN matches where do i find that information. I don't have a copy or link to the actual TSB. Thanks for the help.

I went to the dealership where I purchased my 09 TRD DC and asked about the TSB. They told me it was only for 4 Wheel Drive Models only. They also said that if I did not have any warning lights come on that nothing was wrong. I showed them the papers from here and they told me you can't believe everything you read on the internet. I saw on here that someone had it done at another dealership close by, so I may try that one in a couple of days.

jandrews, you make good points to keep in mind when the conversation with the stealership heads in a less than desirable direction.

Is yours a PreRunner? The TSB mentions the PreRunner V6's. Unless I'm mistaken, the PreRunners are 4x2. Go to the Toyota Technical Information System webpage https://techinfo.toyota.com/techInfoPortal/appmanager/t3/ti?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=ti_home_page&SMENC=ISO-8859-1&SMLOCALE=US-EN&SMAUTHREASON=0&SMAGENTNAME=%24SM%24mT%252bGLraBu9CwUVnZg4mEDzB2kysT90hgbwsWgdZzNOc%253d&TARGET=%24SM%24https%3A%2F%2Ftechinfo.toyota.com%2F

Pay $15 bucks for a 2-day access and download a copy of all the TSBs for your model and year. Take it with you to the dealership and point to where it explicitly lists the work and parts for the PreRunners. I think the "PreRunners" are now "XRunners". Regardless, it covers 4x2 trucks and the TSB is for the PART...NOT THE TRUCK. The Year and Model listing is just what those parts were known to be installed on. I hope this helps.

I gave them all sixteen pages of the SEPT 08 TSB and they insisted that it is only for 4 x 4 packages. I even showed them how my part numbers matched the sheet and still nothing. I will call the other dealership in the morning and see. What I do not understand is that the dealerships get paid to do this. They are not losing any money by doing this and you know any dealership these days can use the money. I will post my outcome of tomorrows conversation.

Un-F-ingReal. The TSB explicitly lists the PreRunner model and provides the instructions on how to fix it...and that's a 4x2. Don't feel bad, I was jerked around by my stealership too. I even called every dealership around where I work (3) and got varying responses...all negative. I finally went to another dealership that was relatively "close" to me. They were listed several times as one of the dearlships that did the TSB for previous people. They inspected my truck in an hour, ordered the parts and got me scheduled for next week.

Keep the faith and don't give up. Just be prepared to drive if you have to. ended up driving 60 miles to get mine done. I know we shouldn't have to...but what's the alternative?
