Warm the truck up maybe and wipe the stick before taking a reading? the level should be easy to read.

Same problem here. Just guessing when it comes to oil level. Doesn't matter how long it sits, it is always impossible to determine the level.

in the morning, pull it and check. the truck has to sit for at least a few hours.

just remember, when doing it like that, that all oil has drained down. in case Toyota didn't think of that, I always make sure mine is on the high side of correct, but never above

Score/sand the bottom portion of the dipstick with 120 grit sandpaper. It gives the oil something to stick to.

Thanks for all of the replies. I was starting to think that I just couldn't do it right. I have tried all of that other than roughing up the dipstick, which is what I am going to try. I have let it sit overnight and longer, and still got the same "read".

Let the truck sit overnight, pull the dipstick and read the level, no problem.
