Ok so I have installed my unit and if anyone knows for a fact that the relay bypass want work please let me know because my relay bypass is not working and I can't get a DVD to play at all. Do I have to switch control this?? Also, who knows how to splice into the rear view mirror backup camera for it to work with this device as well? Pioneer AVH8400bh

I know how to remove the factory radio, but my question to you all with systems or a DD unit is: How do you wire the subs to the aftermarket radio along with the amplifier and I have a DVD player that I want to be able to play while driving. How do I bypass this? (No, I want be watching while driving) I would like pics of the bypass wires and how that's done and the removal process as well as what's wired to what in the back of your aftermarket radio for subs and amps.

    Thanks,
    Justin

You will run RCA's to the amp. Depending on what head unit your running depends on how to wire the bypass for the parking brake. Kenwoods just ground the parking brake wire. Pioneer I believe needs a relay wired to switch the parking brake wire from hu with amp turn on wire to operate the relay to switch it every time. What hu are you running?

You can try to find your answer in this post.

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/au...uble-cab-complete-audio-install-tutorial.html

As far as a brake bypass, it depends on the head unit brand. Some and just be hacked and play while driving, others need another adapter and for some, all you need to do is ground the brake wire (typically to the power wire).

    Hope this somewhat helps.

Edit: Check out the audio/video sub-forum for more.

Also some head units with nav on them will defeat the bypass with the GPS. When it detects you are going over 5 mph it will turn it off again. I believe that's the new pioneers that I read about.

You can make the bypass for less than that. All you need is a 12 volt relay and some wire.

Wow thanks for all the quick responses as I am doing the install this afternoon. It is a Pioneer AVH-P8400BH. Ok I see that the amp is super easy and now I need to check the audio/video forum. Also, it does not have navigation.

Where to buy this (12 volt relay) and will I need a relay for the Pioneer model I have or just ground the brake wire?

Auto parts store. The pioneer will need the relay. It's just a standard 12 volt relay. I just uploaded a pic of it to live. Give me a few min to get to my laptop and ill repost the link to the video.

Ok so another question where the heck do all those prongs connect too that I saw in your profile on the relay. Nice Kenwood DD by the way. I really would like to see pics of this done and where this all happens in my truck?? What to take apart, disconnect, splice, etc.

The video will explain it all. Most people are intimidated by relays but they are really simple. I'm almost to some wifi. Where I can upload the link.

So for the speakers just wire the sub to the amp and the RCA wires to the back of the DD?

I figured that would explain it as easy as could be done. I was going to do mine that way but found out with the kenwood's all you have to do is ground the wire and your done, it doesn't reset. That's the way to do it if you want it automatic. Cheaper way would be to just run the wire to a toggle switch and the other side of the switch to a ground. It works but you have to toggle it every time. I like automatic. Just a matter of a few dollars.

Yes. You will see three sets of RCA's on the back of the DD. Front, Rear, and Sub. Run a set of RCA's from each plug to the labeled RCA's on the amp for each set. Then run speaker wires from each labeled output on the amp to each set of speakers or crossover in front if your running components.

Easy enough!! What length RCA wire would be good for a Double Cab?
