I have seen a few sub boxes specifically designed to fit behind the back seats of the double cab...however, there is a solid plastic piece on the back of the seats...doesn't this muffle or deaden the bass from the subs? From growing up, I had subs firing through the back seat, but there was not plastic behind those seats!

Any thoughts would be appreciated. I am 43 so I am looking for a nice low end, but it doesn't have to be heard around the block!

I,ve got the JL stealth box in my doublecab with two ten's, no issue at all with the plastic on the seat backs.

Thanks. That is the exact box I was looking at.

i'll admit i haven't heard the difference between removing it or not, but from a pure physics perspective it will "breath" better with the plastic removed as the sound waves work their way through the cushion. i plan to install my single IDQ10 this coming weekend and i am planning to remove the plastic (i feel pretty confident i will need to for clearance purposes).

I had a JL 10W3v3 in the back of my truck. I had the plastic, and had it removed. I heard no difference. There wasn't even a difference in the "feel" of the sub hitting the low notes. Now I've got new subs, and I had to remove the plastic because of the excursion of the subs, they would hit the plastic if I didn't remove it.

+1 on this, I had it installed and removed for a while, could not detect a difference. Logically that seems wrong, but reality disagrees with logic on this one

If your getting the JL audio stealth box as you say, there is a version 3 sub available now. I just purchased mine stealth box in Canada with the version 2 subs, but the US should all be version 3 subs now according to JL audio. The "better" version 3 subs are a 10W1V3, I wish I had those ones.

Thanks guys...I just remembered last night that I had two 8" JL 8W3V2-D4 subs in my closet and found a couple websites that had sub boxes for two 8" subs that matched the size requirements for those that I will try. I will let everybody know how it turns out and will post pics. I think I will leave the plastic on the back of the subs as one of the videos on *********.com showed there was about an inch between their box/woofers and the plastic... May be a while though as the summertime is full of nieces and nephews birthdays that I have to buy presents for!
