ok so im looking at painting my wheels... and a friend of mine has a 2011 4runner , so he had the stock wheels after he put new ones on his.. So he was going to let me borrow his... Anyway.. I went to put them on my truck (2007 DCLB Prerunner) and they dont fit.. first they look like i need longer studs, and second looks like i need different lug nuts... so whats the deal? are the 4 runner wheels different offset or something?

Here's mine...

you have a TRD, is there a difference in length of your studs than on a pre runner? i wouldnt think so but when i placed the wheels on my truck there was only about 1/2 inch of space to place the lugs on, where as there is much more space, and there was a major gap of space around each stud.. when placing the lug nut just the wheel as it was laying on the ground, the lug looked like it barely wide enough to sit without the wheel coming over the lug..

The correct lugs fill in that space. They are referred to as mag lugs and have a built in washer and shank to center the wheels on the lugs. You need the new lugs as you are trying to use the conical style I assume. See the image.

Like jassco said you need the mag type with built in washer and they should work fine, that's what came off the OEM off road wheels, you can maybe find some on here or ebay for sure used or new.

I swapped my 16's for fj cruiser 17's and ran in to a problem. I had the mag style lugs that came with fj wheels but had a flat and did not work with factory steel spare. afraid the lugs would pull thru the hole needed the acorn style that came with Tacoma wheels. bought 6 lugs at Autozone to keep in the truck. an earlier post I commented on said either would work but the lugs were different, not just length. if you don't drive your truck you could put them on instead up on blocks to paint your wheels.

The local tire/wheel shop here swapped my lugs for new lugs they had in their shop that worked with the Limited 4-runner wheels at no cost.
