To BHLM or Not????

I have a spot on one my bezels where the paint doesnt want to stick im assuming its a spot i missed when cleaning with alcohol... I just tryed wiping it with a q-tip and cleaning the spot. It worked alittle. Good thing its in a spot that isnt really noticeable.
Im going to try and do another light coat on the spot to see if i cant get it to stick.

This mod is frustrating! Its hard to get a perfect even coat on them. Bc of all the angles and areas..

 

Light coats man. I think I sprayed 6-7 light coats for it all to cover. You don't want to rush anything with this mod. It took me most of the day to do this....(like 7-8 hrs but I had time to kill)

I think i look ok, i got it pretty good. It covered it just barely.. Im hoping when i bake them again when i go to put them back together that the paint evens out and curse nicely. Im wanting these to look as stock as possible with no flaws..

 

That's why I put the bezels in the oven for a few mins, the heat evens out any over spray & gives it a nice finish. I think this step is in one of the write ups on here.

 

Almost done!! I got the lights put back together and im going to wait another half hour or so before putting the lights in and totally sealing them. Just want the paint to dry as long as possible..
They turned out great! And I freakin love what I did, by not painting where the marker light is. It breaks up the black perfectly! I think its too much black when thats painted also.. But thats just me.

Im plasti-dipping my emblem white and then i will take a pic of it, and post up all my pics. I have one with the emblem black and one white. Im going to keep it white for now.

Thanks man! No it really wasnt that bad. Just time consuming. I love the way it turned out. Makes the truck look 10x better. I think the white emblem breaks up all the black on the front nicely..
I did things alittle different when reheating to put them back together. Instead of both pieces in the oven seperated. I put the pieces together lined them up and so when there cooking in the oven the 2 pieces start to bond and the glue becomes almost like one again. And when I removed them from the oven there almost all the way together. Just needed alittle squeezing here and there, then put the screws back.
Hope that makes sence..

 

I did the exact same thing. Worked out just like you described. Just a little push here and there and everything was snug.

Well my light today passed the car wash test.. No fogging!
I took them out again earlier today and put clear ATV on the seam, just to be safe.

 

Good deal, glad it worked out.

 

Going to do mine this weekend. It'll be a good test run while waiting for my retrofit to come in.

Now to decide to black out the bowls or not when I do the retro.

 

Go all out man... If you're doing retros then blacked all the way out looks awesome!

 

Trying to keep a little silver/chrome on them to go with the rest of the build. Thinking of doing chrome bowls, with black shrouds to give it that 'eye ball' look just not sure how it's going to look.
