Hi Susan, just got done with the lawn. Daughter is doing fine, walking around now with a basketball sized belly! Due in August. Jodi is having the baby shower next Saturday, so we have been busy with that lately. We also are "thinking" about selling the house and moving to something a bit more affordable (smaller). We moved here when both kids were living with us, and now it's just the two of us in a good sized, two story cape. We looked at a couple of places over the past week or so, one was really nice so we made an offer on it. Turned out the guy living there got transfered and his company is selling the house. They weren't interested in a contingency sale, where we would need to sell ours in order to buy theirs. Jodi is not completely sold on the idea of moving, so things are still up in the air for now. Things OK down there in SC? I'm heading out in the kayak in a bit, be back on tonight.

Great news on your daughter. :yay: for grandbabies

So are you looking in the same area you are currently in or some where completely different? Maybe the contingency thing is a good one... it's a sign you are supposed to stay where you are :notsure: Good luck whatever you guys decide to do.

Things are good here. I've been thinking about a kayak, but don't think it would work... would need one so I could take the girls with me. Might have to go with a canoe instead... Have fun on the water.

    Job Security. ;)

Anybody here used RustOleum spray paint on rusted metal? I have an outdoor low voltage transformer that was outside for 15 years. I retired it 3 years ago and now I want to mount it in the garage to power some low voltage LED pathway and security lights for a front of the house makeover that starts at the end of the month.

My plan is a wire brush on the rusty areas then clean with mineral spirits. Put two coats of RustOleum primer then 2 to 3 coats of RustOleum black. I am hoping that it will look good enough to be on the wall in the garage.

Low voltage lighting on a deck I took out 3 years ago. The transformer is a Hadco 2 circuit 250W transformer. I bet I will have a hard time finding the splices that attach the fixtures to the feed line, Give me a few minutes to pop a few pics.

hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that's not going to work.
you need a 12VDC supply for LEDs.

I see the ouput is 12V, does not say that it's DC.
transformers do not convert AC to DC, LED drivers do (transformer + rectifier).

hmmm...I just took his picture, the stew will have to wait until next time.

 Don't worry Susan, you know I would never do such a thing

:woot: for the grandbaby and :woot: for the selling...I kinda wish my parents would think about moving into something smaller. Keeping up with the house and yard is taking its toll on them. But dad needs his garage and mom loves the house.
Hope you guys find something you like, don't rush into it. And don't forget the spare room for when the grandkids get to visit ;)

I have used the rustoleum paint many times - works great. clean everything up good and knock off the loose bits, apply the rust inhibitor primer and a couple of coats of paint. I repainted a hitch that was given to me by another TW'er...rusty and ugly when I got it but after a little elbow grease and paint it looks good as new, held up well over the last year or so.

We want to stay in the area we are in, where we live is pretty rural and quiet. My sister-in-law has a kayak and a canoe, plus a good sized dog. The dog goes in the canoe fine, but things are tight in the kayak. You probably could find a nice used canoe pretty cheap to see if it works out.

Some days, I'm really happy that the night before I thought to myself "Tomorrows going to be insane, I'ma going to go to bed early".

Latest circus update, phone system in the entire building is down, people are flooding the Operations radio with pointless chatter.

Also, I'm aware some people delay for job security, and I don't care if you want to do that on a job thats not time sensitive, but when we ACTUALLY need stuff done then do your #$%^ing jobs..
