Home boy at the local lift place told me that I would have to buy after market wheels if I get a 3 inch suspension lift because the control arm would hit... I think he is full of shit but I was just wondering if anyone has experience with this. I have FJ Trail Team wheels.

Also does anyone know if I could mount 33 12.5 on these wheels?

    Thanks

    And yes i searched first

I have the TT wheels with 265s. 285's (33"s) will require trimming of the cab mount to not rub and trimming of innner fender/flare, and may knock off mud flaps.

Do you know if 33' 12.5 will seal up to the TT wheels?

Yeah, you'll be fine with 285's on them.

Unless those wheels have some sort of funky backspacing you should be fine with the UCAs. I'm not too sure.

I personally wouldn't mount such a wide tire on a 7.5" wide wheel. CAN it be done? Probably, but doesn't mean it should be done. It's nice to have some rubber extending beyond the wheel to protect the wheels, but I think that is a bit excessive. 12.5" fits and looks really nice on a 10" wide wheel. In your case I think I wouldn't go any wider than 10".

I ran 285s and 255s on trail teams with a 3" lift, it was fine.

It just seems like there would be an issue with the bead and the sidewall with a 285 on the 7.5" wheel. But hell, if it works it works!

Another question I have been looking at the lift forums and I was wondering if yall have any experience with a 3 inch suspension and adding a 1 inch body lift? any pro's or con's of this set up?

Body lifts are like stepping in a slimy dog shit. To be avoided at all costs. Blocks and spacers are like dried out nuggets of dog shit, and should be avoided as well. Coilovers (Bilstein 5100s for example) are a good way to get a couple of inches with an AAL in the rear, if'n you have to mind a budget. If you can spend about $1,200 I recommend a full OME setup. For some more cash you can get set up with Icons and nicer springs.

If you have no budget limit go long-travel, then you can jump your truck out in the desert!
