16 G speaker wire to the Sub?

I've got 500 W (@2ohms) amp driving a pioneer shallow thats 20hms 1200/350. Is 16 G big enough?

 

I've always done 12 myself. If the length is pretty short, I'd seen no issue with it.

 

unless there is a problem with running a bigger gauge cable i would go with it- you can actually loose power if the cable isn't big enough.

 

16awg on 500w is perfectly fine.

Look at the wire on the speaker running from the magnet to the cone. If your speaker wire is at least that large, you're in good shape.

 

I waited a couple of days to get 12G. and installed the sub with that.
