Hey everybody. So I've been looking into getting a used Tacoma for a while now and I've came across one in my price range. The only problem is that the deal seems to be too good, but it's from a reputable dealer so I'm not sure what to do.

It is a 2006 SR5 V6 4X4 with Power Locks,Tilt Steering, Power Windows, Traction Control, Air Conditioning, Cruise Control, Power Mirrors, 4 Door,CD Player, Anti-Lock Brakes, Keyless Entry. Has 168,000 km on it (about 104000 miles). All for $11,585 CAD

Now I've done a little research and the 4WD V6 double cab seems to sell for around $18,000 so such a low price seems a little odd. What do you guys think, what should I look for when I take it out for a drive in a couple days?

Oh and I'm sorry if I'm posting in the wrong thread, as you can tell I'm new here.

It's probably been in an accident. Go look at it and take a very very very good look at it.

I went to a similar dealership because they had 10 tacos on the lot and every single one had been written off and then shoddily repaired. One was missing rubber seals on the flares, a few were clearly painted with nasty nibs all over and poor colour matches, some had massive gaps between panels and other problems.

I think by law they have to tell you if it's been in an accident. But when I bought my first truck they didn't tell us until we were signing...

I got my truck which is pretty similar for 16k CAD from a dealer. Just wait until the right truck comes along you don't want to buy some elses headache.

I don't know if Carfax is applicable in Nova but it may be worth the $39 USD to run the VIN. I was in the same position recently and ran in to tons of Tacos with salvaged/rebuilt titles or theft recoveries. If you don't mind the salvaged title, you can get a great deal but keep in mind re-sale is the craps. I personally wouldn't want one with that title.

    Welcome- from here!
You're right- VMRCanada pegs that truck @ $16,450 wholesale/$19,425 retail. Run a Carfax or Carproof and see what's up...
Sometimes a used car lot just gets a good deal on something and amazingly, they actually pass the savings on...
