Hey guys! I'm going to start doing some self I maintenance on my 01 Tacoma. I recently started feeling the transmission hesitate to get into the next gear. Is this an issue telling me I need to change the transmission oil? Or could this be something worse? Also, the previous owner installed a K&N air filter and cut holes in the housing for the air filter. I've gone back to a Fram air filter but have yet to cover the holes. The holes really cause my engine to bog down on the highway when I put my foot down to get up to speed. What would be a good thing to use to fix it? Thanks for any help!

hesitate as in it would take longer than normal and allow RPM to climb without accelerating as fast as before and then "CLUNK" into gear?

if so, ur looking at a rebuild, and changing the fluid NOW, could be a death sentence.

the K&N may have gunked up the MAF sensor.............get some MAF sensor cleaner (labeled as such) from napa/kragen/pepboys/etc.

Keep up on ur spark plugs?

as for the intake, Id look for a stock used 1, or if u prefer an aftermarket 1?

unless they did the deckplate mod.........can u take a pic of your filter housing?

It doesn't clunk, just hesitates. It'll jerk when I out it into reverse or drive when pulling oht of driveway. As for the sensor, I replaced the sensor and cleaned everything out. As for soark plugs, I changed the spark plug wires but not the actual spark plugs because those were messed up when the previous owner laid them against the engine block.
