I'm not bent out of shape, just giving a dose of reality. But, hey, your life: do whatever you want.

Just a bunch of old crap
So glad I don't have to worry about this kind of petty BS at my job. I did my time with employers like this where it took a damn algorithm to figure out vacations and coverage.

Aside from that, in my book it's first-come, first-served. If it's a dead tie and 2 people put in for the same vacation days on the exact same day, it's down to seniority OR if there's proper coverage by other members of their team. Whatever it takes to keep the business flowing without disruption.

Sometimes people just need to take vacation for their own stability and happiness. Employers need to realize this and sometimes the business might have to take a break to make sure that the employees get the rest they've earned.

    Bingo.

When I'm looking over a resume, I can accept a string of 4 or 5 1-2 year-long jobs from a young man who is 25 or so. At that point, you are taking what you can get to get through school and to decide what you want to do with your life.
At 30, I probably had 6 jobs on my resume... but only two were retail. One was aerospace, one was a machine shop, one was a shipping desk, and one was in my current field.

If I see 6 jobs in the same field spanning 4 years, that applicant is not going to be called in for an interview.
If I see 6 jobs in 4 years, and the jobs are either in a different field, and/or each job is progressively better than the previous... then he's going to get a serious look as a person who is motivated to do better for himself.

    The Decision was made today

Person A will be on Leave from July 1-7th
Person B will be on Leave from July 6-10th

Person B is happy. Person A is bummed but is satisfied that they get their leave to carry the weekend and in the end and agreed to compromise.

"Compromise, or you get the 4th option, you get your leave in November. Did I mention we're transferring to Fairbanks in September?"
