    It's not new, it's not Mexico
    I know it looks unprofessional, but otherwise my mouth would be too dry to talk. Plus I don't give a rat's ass what some old guy with a pony tail or jerk with a tattoo on his face think I look like.

    I work for an insurance company. When I was on the phones, no way you should have anything in your mouth. We had one person that would be eating when they called us and it was infuriating.

    If you're just at your desk doing your own thing, go ahead..just don't be cracking it and blowing bubbles, that's a little noisy for an office IMO

    But it is unprofessional. However on occasion I will chew gum while working cause the amount of coffee I drink in a day enabled my breath to strip paint of a fender faster than a 15 amp angle grinder.

    I just tuck the gum between my cheek and gum when talking to patients.

    I'm surprised there is even a question.

    Same goes for tattoos or piercings...or excessive jewelry. And some clothing is also very unprofessional.

    None of it would fly in the office I work in.
