I just re-read this and saw that you said OTHER side.
A few post back, someone said that the radio antenna would goof with it. Is that correct?

It does depend on power the freqs are not close enough but high power can make things do strange stuff. It might be a good ideal to turn off the FM radio when you transmit on 2 meters if the antenna is close. I doubt you would see an issue as far as slewing the TX pattern with a radio antenna but I think too close to the CB would have an effect because of it's size.

Your public service radio antenna will be too short for the 2 meter ham band the SWR will be too high. There are cutting charts that match freq to length for PS band antennas the Larsen site should have them.

Some problems took place before I ended up with this mount. I had a standard 3/8 24 mount do not buy a Workman or a Jetstream they are cheap cast brass they look nice but behind the pretty face lurks junk. It snapped of and the $400 antenna landed in the street. Other then asphalt rash the antenna was OK. I bought a heavy duty ball mount the antenna still flopped around like a fish that is where the extra mount came in. It is lexan because the entire antenna is RF hot and it can not be grounded. The shaking can not be good for those antennas all though I see it all the time. The coax was landed by removing the tail light assembly.

Very nice mounts I have seen them before and for what they are the price is right. The problem with a big antenna is more the antenna that the mount just being fastened at a single 3/8" point is not enough support. It's OK with some thing thin like a CB whip because it's close to the same diameter. My mounting maybe over kill but it does not move they are mechanical and move up and down with a motor it just really can't be good for them to shake like they do the only thing now that moves is the whip.

Hey EEtaco that install looks great, I am looking to do something similar. I have a Yaesu 1802 and want to install it like that, I already have a comet dual band antenna installed and cable run for my HT I've been using, but was wondering how you got the power and RG58 cables under the carpet. Do you have a picture from the back side? And did you screw the mount into the center console? Thanks
