Being new here, figured this was a good way to break the ice. (aside from my intro in the new members area)

After 6 days of ownership, it was time for her first bath. Started by putting some new shoes on her; Got some FJ six spokes off ebay (Frank_Motors; great to deal with) and a tire special from DiscountTireDirect. (Cooper Disc HTP 265/70R16) Had them mounted and balanced yesterday, so today was the day for install!

After the swap out, away went the air hose and torque wrench, and out came the garden hose. A short two hours later, I'm really digging the new look. :) (I'm not really into the current dark wheel trend, but different strokes fo' diff'rent folks...)

Already contemplating next mod.... probably going to save up for a tan softopper... :D One of my promises to the wife unit was that all mods for the near future be practical and useful, not just for aesthetics or play. :pout:

Very nice looking access cab. Those wheels are sweet.

If you don't mind me asking what did you pay for the wheels?

Sure; ebay, BiN, $620 plus 'actual calculated' (per ebay... sometimes I think their calculator is a bit rigged but this time it was very fair) shipping cost of $111.95

Frank_Motors shipped from California, literally the next morning after I completed the transaction and made payment by Paypal. (picked up by courier on Tuesday) They are an actual Toyota dealership, the included invoice is a Toyota document, and they state that full factory warranty is intact.

Fedex Home delivery rolled up four days later on Saturday Morning with two well packaged boxes, factory original wheel boxes inside larger shipping box.

Complete set included full 24 set of brand new correct FJ Lug nuts, rubber valve stems for all four wheels, and four wheels in mint factory packaging. (still had elastic fabric scuff protector on each)

Can't say enough good things about the transaction.

I just noticed they have black Trail Team rims up on ebay last night for only $20 more... CRAZY, given how in demand they seem to be, what with the VIN verification stuff and all. Linky

    Hope that all helps!

(thanks for the compliments thusfar guys!)

It's amazing how many bugs I had to scrape off the front and windshield. Guess it has to do with the aerodynamics. Does everyone else have that issue?

New tires rolled really nice this morning on the way to work. Only a smidge of tire tread feedback at the wheel and no real increase in noise; with the expected increase in traction in inclement weather over the stock crap, I think it will be well worth the $520 for the set.

Did you have to get new TPMS?

Have to? Normally for someone in my situation, they would have.

But for me specifically, no. Like some other members I am not going to run tpms sensors as I will be swapping between 3 season and dedicated winter snow sets of wheel/tires. So the included rubber stems went right into the new wheels.

Had I wanted to keep the alloys year round, my oem steel wheel sensors would not have fit in these alloy wheels. From my research here, they are a different angle inside and are not meant to be interchangeable. (Some guys have sucessfully re-used them by rotating them 180 deg during install, but that idea made me uncomfortable and wouldn't matter since I plan on running the two sets of wheel/tires). In that case, yes I would have had to get new ones.

If you have factory toyota alloy wheels with sensors, those sensors should move right over from what I understand.

Edit - I should clarify, due to federal laws, no shop will mount and balance without sensors if they know your vehicle has a functioning system beforehand. If you bring them the tires and wheels separately from the vehicle and install them onto the vehicle yourself later, what they don't know won't hurt you. :)
