Did you try back in up 50 yards or so way with the brakes on? This can rub them the other way and sort of clean them up.

Sounds like per the OP that the sound is more excessive than just a light squeal that could be brushed off. I would suggest starting off with a phone call to the regional rep for Toyota. Get him involved and offer to meet him at the dealership to go for a test drive. Do not mention lemon law, because that will force him to shut down his willingness to help. This will be your first contact with him, so be polite, but direct. Mention that the noise is so severe that you are actually concerned that something in the brakes may fail, and you or your family could get hurt. Play up the fear. Safety and injury are not taken lightly by a regional rep. Just my $.02 worth.

I am pretty sure it is the front brakes. I've rolled my windows down to try and pinpoint where it was coming from and it is coming from the front. I'll try and test this out with someone standing outside listening to where the squealing is coming from.

Thanks for all the advice, folks. I wont mention lemon laws when I talk with them, I just needed to vent. I was just so irritated yesterday about this.

What ever it is it's fixable but if you want to sell the truck at a $5000 loss I'll take it. I have owned 6 Toyota pickups from 1980 to a 2011 and a Toyota motor home none of they ever had a break squeal in fact no Toyota I have ever owned did, maybe a caliper or two and rusty parking break pivots but that's about it.

Many years ago every thing had drum brakes they squealed front and rear but they were also fixable. The same goes for front disk brakes there is some one out there that can fix it apparently it's not your local dealer. When I sold my 97 it even had the stock breaks on it when I sold it at 285K they never made a sound.

No squeal here. Yet. I'm sure it's going to start now though.

If I'm not mistaken, Toyota installs Metallic pads from the factory for front and rear brake assemblies. If a metallic pad has a bit of large chunk of metal molded in the pad, it would be more than enough to create the squeal that has the OP up in arms. My last motorcycle had metallic pads on the front rotors, and were so loud that I actually had people at stop lights tell me to check my brakes...

Unless you change to a non-metallic pad, you run the risk of a small squeal, or a headache! Metallic pads were designed for longevity. They offer a good balance of wear and performance. I do not have any noise problems to speak of on my Tacoma but I do know of other Tacoma's that squeak some.

There is a tsb for this now. I had it done and my brakes were silent afterwards. However. .. I was sick of the driveline vib. Toyota bought it back under my states laws and I went with a tundra instead.
