I am looking to buy some new Bilstein 5100s and have them installed at a shop. I see they range from about $80 - $100 to buy online, but does anyone know how much it should cost to have them installed? I am looking to set them at the 2.5" setting to give the rig a lift/leveling. Anything else that I need to get, or just the shocks to accomplish this?

    Thanks!

might want some new coils if yours are hurtin'

a shop will probably charge you about $150 to install them, if you figure $75 an hour
that is, if they don't need to also put together the strut assembly, and they're just ready to go

If you set them at 2.5" the ride is supposedly pretty harsh...you will most likelly have issues getting it with in spec for alignment afterwards as well.

I got front and rear 5100s from down south motorsports for around $300 with free shipping because I live close by.

I called a few local shops but they quoted $300+ for installation and another $100+ for alignment.

I ended up just doing it myself. It's really not that difficult. I researched/read/watched a bunch of videos and topics before jumping the button.

I also set mine at 2.5" with stock springs. I have a 2011 TRD sport. I did a before measurement and the back of the truck was exactly 2" higher than the front so it made sense to set my front 5100s at 2.5". I measured again after the installation and it sits perfectly 2.5" than before. I feel the ride comfort is the same. I honestly can't tell the difference. I don't off-road either. Just street and daily drive.

Hope that helped. Good luck bro

I just had a set installed by a dealer (everyone else was too busy - even dropped at one business, who scheduled, then didn't complete). The dealer charged 3 hours $145/hr, plus the minimum $25 for parts they didn't use or need. All told, it was $503 for labor - shocks shipped to my home was another $199 (that included tax and FedEx). AND IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT. The work was done yesterday. Today I parked next to the same dbl cab/TRD, and my truck seemed 3" taller, even though I only set the shocks at the 1.75" level.

Go to autoanything.com and talk to a service person using the instant messenger they have. I went on there and asked for a discount and BAM, there it was. I ended up getting two 5100's for the front for 140 bucks total...AND free shipping. I had to take the old shocks to get them compressed and swaped for 50 bucks at a local tire factory. all in all it was about 190 bucks installed and my own time.

...but Midland Texas is a boomtown. You want to make a good wage, come on down to the hot, dusty, dry, flat, badwater oilpatch. We got no need for a welfare state...
