Just watch the original top gear polar special.... Way more impressive than the shitty American version. First car trip to the north pole in a heavily modded Hilux. It's sad they do the exact same challenges as the original and do the same jokes. The "Lorry/Semi" special are nearly the exact same episode.

The American version of Top Gear has been getting better- I didn't think it would last long after the terrible first few episodes. Unfortunately, so many of the sequences are "me too" versions of the original.

Man.... I couldn't agree with you more. I have been watching Top Gear on BBC America since it first started. It is by far the best show IMO on TV. Sucks that this season was only 5 episodes and a "Christmas in February" special. I can't stand the fucktards on the American version and you are right... It is a blatant rip off of the English version.

All that said, It is pretty cool to see that they chose Toyota over every other manufacturer to take into extreme conditions.

Driving to the North Pole is as epic an off road trip as it gets. The fact that a Hilux did it makes it all that much better. Could anyone tell what the support vehicle was? From glimpses, it looked like a Four Runner but I couldn't tell for sure. I liked seeing the Arctic Trucks again on the American version. Just can't get enough of them.

Close. The two support vehicles were Land Cruiser Prado, which is 4Runner/GX470 with different front end sheetmetal.
