I think the manual says like 33ft lbs or close to it. I just snug it up good and another quarter turn.

Drain bolt: Just snug it up tight, but don't over tighten. I've never used a torque wrench for a drain bolt, but I don't think I'd go 33 lbs.

Oil filter: Wash your hands right before you're ready to install the filter to get any oil residue off. Spin it on and snug it up. Now use a damp rag and get your hands slightly moist, not wet though. This will give a you a very good grip with your hands slightly clammy. Then, hand tighten. If you're scared, use your ratchet and filter cap socket and give it another 1/4 turn.

till gasket meets base and another 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn, that's it.

Don't forget to spread some oil on the rubber filter gasket before installing. Makes getting it tight enough by hand easier.

I've been thinking about one of these. Which one are you using? No nipple, short, long?

On my last 2 trucks (Ram HD's) I used the nipple version. For this Tacoma, I'm using the F-103S with the short nipple. It's a very high quality valve and you will not have a problem with them leaking. Installing them when it's time for an oil change makes it easier for future oil changes. And you can drain the oil directly into gallon jugs or 5 Qt. oil jugs.
