I'm relatively new to 4wd's and I just bought an 07 TRd-OR. What I have learned is that the locker makes both wheels sping at the same force at the same time, so if one wheel is in the air the other one will still spin to get traction.

I'm well aware that you can use the locker anytime, but can someone please explain the point of it? If you have the mod, how fast can you go? How fast would you want to go with it locked?

    Thanks for the help.

point of it is to make it so you can use it in 4 HI or 2wd (if you so choose) Making it so you dont have to go threw the process to enable the locker. I myself am doing this mod shortly because I have a front elocker, now i want to be able to use what I have when I want. also some times when you go offroad you can get stuck with your 2wd enabled, now imagine if you were off road and your rear axel got "Snagged", engage the locker and you have enough traction to get out without the use of 4wd. as for speed I wouldnt go very fast. I have read people going up to 35 mph with it locked.... sounds like a great idea.... I would say max 10 MPH but thats me.

Putting it on paper doesnt make sence put in the situation its awsome.

This basically covers it. Only thing is.. once its locked.. the speed doesn't matter. Its keeping it under 5mph to engage it thats important. That, and dont drive on asphalt. Loose dirt only.. or slow speed crawls. I did the locker anytime maybe 2 years ago and its great. Just be responsible.

I drove mine 2wd locked at 65-80mph from Moab to Reno. :D Course only 1 shaft was spinning. Won't hurt your diff though. Sure wish I had the mod when that happened.

Why would you want it? Well 2wd locked and 4hi locked could be useful in some scenarios I suppose. Especially if you blow up a sidegear and open won't let you move.
