Hey guys, I was wondering if it's possible to use both a coil over and a spacer to achieve a lift. I don't want to go crazy and have a monster lift. Just a 3 inch lift. I have icon coil overs right now but it's a rough ride. I was thinking of cranking them all the way down or down to 1 inch and then addin a 2 inch spacer. The purpose is to get a smoother ride from the coil overs. What do you guys think. Oh and the lift is strictly for looks. No off-roading. Thanks

the ride would be bad with the spacers, i'd change the coils on the CO's.

Dont know..... maybe upper control arms might help. I've read some treads about upper control making the ride a lot better. But if you have that already..... I wouldn't waste my money on a spacers lift to add on IMO.

What's the solution then? To just get longer coils?

Did you really tell someone to ditch a set of Icon coilovers and go with 5100's for a better ride?!?! :smack:

This right here is why you don't believe everything you read on the internet. But to answer your question, no you shouldn't use a spacer on your icons. I would try the longer shock. Not exactly sure what your definition of a rough ride is though. Is it rough compared to OEM?

What kind of longer coil would you get...? Does Icon make them or would you have to get a different brand?

Icon, Fox or King all make them. Just throwing this out there but I would guess the culprit is likely the valving of the shocks (or a combination of preload and valving). Icons are made to soak up larger hits so if you're only using them on the road, they can seem harsh on the slow speed stuff.

I'm pretty sure that if your upper control arms are limiting the down travel at all they will effect the ride quality(there for adding aftermarket uniball or similar would help). I am surprised your are having issues with Icon, I had them on my Tundra and loved them, they have great customer support, maybe you can give them a call and see if they can be revalved or inspected.
