I know there are a lot of threads on this but want what you all think. I plan on getting new tires and wheels next week. I plan on getting either the Nitto Terra Grappler or the General Grabber AT2, the stock size tire P265/65R17. And the rims come in 17X8 and 17X9. Would the 17X9's rims rub? I asked a tire place and they said to stick with the 17X8 because the 17X9's might rub but want some more opinions on the subject. And is there a way to get a bigger tire size without the rubbing?

Bump, I've read a couple of other forums on here and saw that P265/70R17 are the biggest tires you can put on for stock. Would I have I to take off the front mud flaps with those on? And from what my buddies have told me is to stick with the 17X8 rims instead of 17X9

1" lift from 3rd gen suspension, 265/75/16 ATs
    Stick to 17x8.

I have 16x8 4.5bs 0 offset wheels with 265/75/16 tires (same size as 265/70/17) on stock suspension and I had to loose front mudflaps and bent the inner portion of fender flare inward to avoid rubbing in normal daily driving. So based on that I would avoid 17x9 for sure. Also if you want 265/70/17 without rubbing on stock suspension, stick to your OEM wheels.

Thanks man for the info! I'm about to order the wheels and tires and wanted to double check. Probably going the safe route of what you said sticking to the 265/65R17 OEM tire size and 17X8 for the wheels. Much appreciated man

    Too few to list.
If you are strictly just gonna be using 265 then stick with the 17x8. Also get the correct back space (4.5") for no rub. I had 265/70/17 in 17x9's and I kept the front flaps on though I was lifted with 5100's. I had to trim the front fender liner as that is where the tires rubbed a little.

If you ever plan on lifting and going 285, then 17x9 would be good to get as I believe 285's should be on at least 8.5" wide wheel.

Good to know, I do plan on lifting it in the future. How do you like the 5100's?
