Any Mods? One. Maybe two, tops...
I would like to hear from my brothers in arms or anybody that might have this issue come up before. I will be deploying overseas in the near future and my TACO will be locked up in an undisclosed location :D for about 6 months.

What I want to know from Tacoma World members (TWFTW), is how can I go about this? My wife MIGHT be able to start the TACO every now and then, but if she does... how often would it be necessary to keep the battery good? I know that would be great for her to drive the TACO every now and then, but she "hates" my "monster TACO". Another thought I had is, should I just disconnect the battery and store it?

Any help would be great, in the past when I returned from deployments, more times than none the battery would be completely dead.

    Thanks,

    Rick.

I ran a yellow top in a Jeep and a few times it went 2 months between start ups. If she could stop by and start it up once a month I think it should be fine. If she doesn't want to drive your truck, I would put it on jack stands to prevent flat spots on the tires.

Just disconnect the negative terminal while you're gone and that battery will be good for years.

I have one in a old classic car and I installed a battery cut off switch on the neg cable. The motor blew and the car sat in the garage for 18 months until I had time to rebuild the motor. Once I was done I just turned the switch on and it started right away after 18 months.

Is there power where it is being stored? Get a trickle charger (Battery Tender, etc). There are also solar ones if no power and exposure of the sun.

Battery minder and start once every 2-3weeks, or at least monthly, fluctuate from idle to 2k for a few minutes and let the engine come to temp.

New carpet and new racing seats. ( other half doesnt like them i think). Nwor springs and adjustable coil overs. Sky jacker rear shocks. Slot and drilled rotors. Like others have said Disconnect battery and put it on jack stands and your good to go..

Edit with going out 6 months change the Engine oil before you leave less acid in the lower part of the engine while you are gone..

See you on the flip side bro...

The last time I was "supposed" to be going on a deployment I left my F250 with dual optimas in a storage unit and my wife started my truck every two weeks and let it get up to normal operating temps then put it back in. Long story short I was only away from the truck that time for a little over a month. The longest I let it sit was 6 weeks straight for a DET in San Diego and it started right up when I got back.

Please see Section 13 in the Car and Deep Cycle Battery FAQ on www.batteryfaq.org for more information of storing batteries.
