ebay has a 3inch lift kit for around $170.00
3 inch spacers with 1.5 spacer for the rear to make it level.
I have a 2010 double cab prerunner and i just wanted to make my truck look aggressive having new rims and tires.

what are your opinions on the lift kit? should i buy it? its mostly for looks no off road

    Too many to list now.
Do you really want to put your 30,000 dollar vehicle on 170 dollars? Just something to consider. Cheap can be dangerous. Yes a lot of guys run spacer lifts and it never fails, but they can fail and you'll know about it pretty quick.

I've heard most who do it don't like the ride and end up getting shocks and springs later. You get what you pay for.

If you want to but on a budget spacer lift, Revtek has about the best-thought-out spacer lift for our Tacomas.

My personal advice to folks installing spacer lifts is to also space your bumpstops, so that when you bottom out the springs and shocks, the UCA still transmits the load to the frame via the bumpstop, instead of transmitting the complete load via the shock - which will break leading to disaster photos like the one on the Camburg website.

Don't do it OP...spacers aren't a good way to achieve lift.

Just save up a little more money and get a real suspension lift :)

    You'll thank yourself later

So what would you reccomemend? I want a stock ride. My friend said the ebay lift kit is just the same as the rev tech and any other brand. He also said that rev tech is compressed so ride will be stiff. What wud u suggest for a prerunner ? i just to have new rims and tires? I mean i dont wana go all out for a prerunner

You haven't linked the kit you're looking at so there's no way for us to say whether your friend's claim that "it's the same as revtek" is right or not.

Basically there are three types of spacer lifts:

Top plate, Preload, and Combination of the two.

Revtek does a combination of the two.

With top plate only - which is what folks tend to get to "get the best ride" the risk is that the shock no longer is the limiting factor in downtravel so you either get

1: excessive CV axle droop (that's bad)
2: balljoint wear as balljoint limits droop

    Revtek uses the "combination" style.

Bilstein has a pretty good explanation here:

    http://www.bilsteinus.com/fileadmin/user_upload/user_upload_us/pdfs/Bil_LevShks_WebArticle.pdf

Naturally, they're trying to sell their 5100 style shocks.

Main advantage of 5100s vs a preload spacer is that the 5100 shock is valved with the assumption that preload will be dialed in, whereas the stock shock is valved as if that's the extreme end of the downtravel range.

The most "budget friendly" lift that folks on TW consistently recommend is:

5100s set at 2.5" (possibly with a 1/2" top plate spacer) and an "add-a-leaf" in the rear.

Pay your money - take your chances.

Personally, the cheapest lift I'd bother to put on my truck would be Revtek.

My personal take on it is whatever you save up front by going with a top plate spacer, you're giving back later in shorter life of your CV axles and balljoints. But I don't have any data to back that up.

Plenty of people run top plates. Your friend is probably one of them.

The "inexpensive lift" of choice on TW tends to be 5100s (set at 2.5) perhaps with half inch top plate spacer, and add-a-leaf in the back. If you do your own labor, that won't add up to all that much coin.

    The better coast
As mentioned previously, the 5100 shocks are pretty good for the money.

Many people say "I'll get. spacer lift and save some money, it can't be that bad" then 3 months later they are fed up with the ride and go with something like the 5100 shocks.

Personally I'd do it right the first time and get the 5100s. Your money and your truck though.
