    Nothing yet...open to ideas!
New to the site, thought I would post my first message. Just joined after a buddy of mine(who I believe is a member) told me about this holy grail of a site. Just skimmed through briefly and have to say i'm impressed with the vast amount of knowledge base and overall modification ideas, makes me excited!

I just gave up my pride and joy 87 pickup 22r and bought myself a 2010 Tacoma. Luckily the 87 is still within the family circle as I sold it to my girlfriends Dad so i'm hoping he will occasionally let me relive the nostalgia every once and awhile;)

As for the upgrade, super happy with the 2010 so far. A lot more cool buttons and bells and whistles. I bought the TRD off road Sr5 and took her on her first test into the back woods this last weekend and have to say it drove like a dream. Handles great, suspension was smooth. I will be upgrading my tires and probably do a lift here in the near future. The lake I camped at had some serious 4x4 terrain access. Rocks and ruts galore, had a fair few rubs of the skid plates but overall she pulled through like the capable beast she is!

So far I have a few general questions that I figure this knowledgeable site could help me with:

First off, suspension lift or body lift?? My buddy put in Bilstein adjustable shocks in the front only get that front end up a bit higher. Good idea??

Second. Should I do a lift first or tires...I do have good rubber left on my tires that came with the truck so i'm considering on keeping those for a year and then using them as a secondary set. Would it be a better idea though to get more clearance by putting on a bigger tire or going the lift avenue??

And Last. In regards to the backup camera. I am probably going to be upgrading my stereo head unit as well in the future and was wondering if there is any way to modify the backup camera so it shows up on the head unit rather than in the mirror. If so, would the image fit to the screen size of the head unit or stay the same mirror sized image??

Thanks for any info. Look forward to hearing your thoughts and hopefully I can bring some insight and info to the table also.
    Cheers!

Heres a couple pics of my pride and joys!

Welcome. More people with more knowledge than I have will answer your questions if you post them other than in the newbie thread.

I also have a 2010 Access Cab and love it!

    Welcome to TW! :D

I would go with the suspension lift. The general consensus here seems to be that body lifts are pretty much good for just clearing larger sized tires.

To answer your second question, I personally would install a lift first, then get tires. With the lift installed, you'll be able to visually get a better idea of what size tire would complement your lift. If anything, you could always sell your current set of tires on Craigslist, which is what I did with my original tires when I upgraded.

Not completely sure about the backup camera, but I think that the image will fit the screen size of the head unit. However, it may appear "pixelated" since you would be viewing an image on a bigger screen than the smaller screen that it was intended.

Nice truck, btw. It looks exactly like my 2010 when we first picked it up at the dealership!
