I've got a set of chrome step bars that came on my truck when I bought it used. They are chrome with a rubber pad along the top of them where you step. I'm thinking about taking the rubber pad off since its tearing, but I would like to add something that has texture to it (kinda slip resistance I guess). I don't use them, but my dad when he gets in my truck when we go hunting or where ever he uses them. What would be a cheap mod for this? I don't even know the manufacturer. Maybe even get rid of the chrome period.

I have the Westin black bars for mine. My best advice would be see if you can replace just the pad..or maybe use grip tape instead. I guess you could use bedliner or something but that would cost you some coin to do it right.

Skateboard grip tape would be a cheap solution.
