It was just a brain fart on my part. I will ALWAYS tie it down in the future. $8.00 ratchet strap = $4,400.00 in repairs.

Too bad it didn't screw up the other side of the composite bed - somebody might want that for a bob job :D

Good idea. Some body shops are skilled in Plastic/Composite repair. Did the body shop possibly provide repair service on the bed? That could be significantly less cost.

A picture of said gas tank cover would help. It does not need to be replaced. The TRD Sport doesn't have any kind of tank cover. Just less protection but it would depend on how much you plan to wheel your truck.

Line-X can't do anything for the bed.

The entire bed is composite. It can be repaired with a fiberglass-bearing body filler... another member did that when his shock punched through the bed, but along the top rail, it's not going to be secure enough to carry a load on the cleats.

I know, right??? Just when you think you've seen it all.

Going back to an earlier comment, a few years back couple buddies were moving a mattress strapped to the top of a Suburban. Straps broke on highway at 70MPH (I know, not very smart) and mattress went airborne. It flew over the passing lane, over the divider and into oncoming traffic. It hit a delivery truck in the windshield. Luckily, no physical harm. Driver of Suburban got an unsecured load ticket and insurance claim for truck.

^ Worked for a tax company and were transporting chairs durring tax season. about 10 of them came out of truck on I-85 in SC. Looked like a movie scene, crazy but funny since I wasn't driving. my boss/driver of car said " I would say lets get the F out of here, but those chairs have the company logo on them." XD. We had to dodge traffic and caused quite the jam on the interstate that day.
