I am planning my HID projector retrofit from TRS and am leaning towards the H1. First off, is there any 12-13's that dont have the mini gatling or graphite shroud or that have modified to fit one of the many other shrouds that are available for the D2S. I like the look of the MCR with the halo inside the shroud but am not sure what it would look like on a 2012-2013. I have seen a lot of the 05-11's but not to many 12-13's. appreciate pics so I can see first hand before spending the money on something that will not work or looks terrible. Thanks

OK, well how about this.. H1 or D2S on 2012. H1 slightly better/wider lighting than D2S but uses only aftermarket bulbs and limited to 2 shrouds. D2S better lamps, high beams and more options for shrouds but not as wide or defined cutoff...Is that correct. It does seem like everyone has been happy with their retrofit regardless of H1 or D2S. I have been searching through TW and it seems that both are good.

Go h1, slightly wider beam and less issues with sticking high beams.

I noticed that you have the FXR retrofit. Was it worth the extra efforts involved? I know that they are better, just not sure if the extra cutting, alignment and installation efforts are worth the nominally better lighting. This will be my first install and hopefully my only install on these lights. I dont want to have to go back in and change it to FXR because I am disappointed with the H1's.

Cutoff with D2S is just fine.
The main difference is the H1 appears to be a bit wider, but in actuality, it's just a bit more even. Where the D2S has more of a hot spot in the middle and fades at the edges, the H1 lacks the hot spot and pulls a little brighter on the peripheral.
I'm perfectly happy with the D2S other than an issue where the high beam sticks. I'll have to open the housing to correct that. At this point, I would not consider the FX-R.

Personally, I prefer the hot spot. That's where I need my light, but we don't have deer or moose where I live.

If you have the tools and are in no hurry (have an extra set of headlights), the FX-R is the way to go. It's a long tedious process that leaves very little room to screw up. There are a lot of how-to's on here for it, and it's worth the extra effort in the end as the output is superior and a lot of people upgrade in the long run as I did. I would only do it if I had 2-3 weeks to work on them, you will be happy with the H1's though, meaning you won't be disappointed.

For some reason the d2s high beam stick after installs and not while I tested mine.

The issue with the high beams sticking occurs on the H1's also so don't let that be the deciding factor. Personally, I do not think the FX-R's are really much better than the H1. The H1 is wider than the D2S but has a 'hot spot'. The D2S has nice, even light distribution but is not quite as wide. H1's with the upgraded bulbs make for a nice setup. The FX-R would be nice if you plan on running upgraded bulbs or 55W bulbs.

Anyone have any links on how to fix the highbeams sticking issue? Got a set of D2S's getting ready to install and would like to make sure I only have to do it once.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Looks like it would be best to take apart the projectors before the install and look/feel for burs or possible hangups and apply graphite to alleviate any sticking issue later on down the road. Any other concerns H1 or D2S? I still have not decided which one. I am not really looking forward to the cutting and additional cost of headlights, FXR projectors, etc. So I think I will pass on the FXR's for now.

FYI you have to cut the inside alignment tab off the self alignment ring and rotate the projector level and then tighten it to the bowl. 2012+ models have about a 10 degree tilt to the stock bulb housing. Other than that, just pick a shroud you really like and go for it!
