I just noticed this today washing the truck. These are on opposite sides of the hood and you can see on the first pic the clear coat is webbing and in the second photo it is peeling. The first is about a nickel size and the second is smaller. Not a HUGE deal to me, but I'm still pissed. The truck has 25,000 miles on it. I don't think it's the wax, I've only waxed it twice. Anyone else had this problem?

That Blows chunks. I am not having the issue with my 2012 and I hope I don't. I do know that the 8th gen Honda civics had a issue very similar to this and Honda put out a TSB on it. They repainted thousands of civic's.

You might want to try to get Toyota to take care of it. A hood repaint sooner rather than later would be preferred to avoid faded panels and blending differences.

Yea I'm thinking I'm going to go to the dealer this week and complain about it at the very least. It just sucks that it is a little over a year old and I got this to deal with.

Toyota may take care of it. If they don't after asking nicely then I personally would start having loud conversations with someone higher up than the dealership.

The paint job on the civics were paper thin and would chip like crazy even after the earlier years of the 2nd gen had the spiderwebbing issues. Honda knew it was putting shit paint on the cars and took care of things when enough people stood up and complained.

I doubt Toyota has this issue. Hopefully it is just a fluke incident.

Yea it is shiny, but I do notice a slight discoloration than the rest of the truck, but may just be me. We will see what the local dealer will do. Probably nothing, but it's worth a shot. The clear coat on this truck just seems really thin to me, I am willing to bet this is not an isolated incident.

One thing to keep in mind is that this vehicle may have been damaged in transit or at the dealer prior to being a sold unit. If so, the dealer could have painted it and is under no obligation to declare this to the potential buyer nor will it end up on any service record or carfax.
Either way it sucks but may not be a toyota defect.

So stopped at the dealer and the manager wasn't there today, but I had a guy look at it and he agreed with me. Told me the manager should look at it on Wednesday and that my hood should be repainted under warranty. So we will see.

I'd be surprised if they don't jerk you off and say you parked somewhere and got something on it. Just like them to shirk responsibility.

QFT! We bought my wife a white 2011 Civic Si and the paint on the hood chipped like crazy. She only had it for a little over a year (fun car btw) and then we bought the FR-S. Paint "seems" to be better on it so far. Time will tell

That sucks about your hood man but I'm glad to see they are going to take care of it for you!

That sucks man. Nothing on mine. I had a new volkswagon that did that and it was a pain to get the dealership to correct it. I am glad the dealership is not fighting it and fixing it for you.
