So, stupidly, I broke a cardinal rule it seems.. I allowed water to touch my (passenger) seat, and now I have a beautiful stain. Mind you, I didn't know pure ice water to stain fabric, but whadda know ..

So.. any advice on how to clean these stupid things? Obviously water is out of the question...

These seats are pretty bad for this. I had this happen with rain. Grabbed a can of Prestone interior cleaner from advance auto and scrubbed away. Seats are good as new. It's a shame they stain so easily. GL.

I tried that at first, but it just seemed to make the stains worse (circled).

I thought these TRD sport seats were some kind of water resistant stuff? You know, this truck is marketed to the mtn bikers and surfers and what not. Was hoping I wouldn't have to get seat covers but I guess I will.

Yep, it makes a nice dirty ringed spot. Found that out when I was using a carpet cleaning machine on the floor. Kids got mud on the seat and I figured I'd get that out while was there. Have the Folex cleaner, will try that if not Prestone.

Oh yeah - water stains these seats! Between surfing, swimming, and my dog my trd seats got lots of stains and water marks quickly. Drove me nuts. Couldn't afford Wet Okoles. Tried oxyclean, but worried it would fade the seats if I used too much. I saw another member post (sorry, don't remember who and don't want to research) that used carbonated water and a microfiber towel. I tried it. I was amazed. Cheap, effective, chemical free.

Get the cloth damp (not soaked) and work around stain, re-wetting towel as needed. Take a dry microfiber towel and soak up/elbow grease the moisture left behind. Leave windows cracked/open for a few hours to help dry seats. Admire your work :)

^^^ This is probably the best advise. I have two young kids so I am cleaning my seat all the time and plain water seems to work but carbonated water is you're best bet.

Water on my already wet microfiber towel from washing the truck takes out the stains great for me. If you are getting further staining that's telling me something. Your seat already has dirt in it which the water getting on it is allowing to only bring that dirt up and make it visibly noticeable. Just my two cents.

A few days after owning my Tacoma I scotch guarded the seats and carpet, and haven't had any issues with water stains...and its been in wet weather plenty of times.

Is this just the TRD Sport seats, or the TRD off-road seats too? Good heavens! I expect to have snow, mud, sweat, and dirt in this thing, what's going to happen if even water stains them...

I steam cleaned my seats when I first bought the truck, then sprayed them down with 303 Fabric Protectant. No problems so far...

I was just turned onto 303 products from a local truck accessory place. He used it on tonneau covers and interior plastics and rubbers.

Great idea in lieu of using covers.

Yeah I mentioned the carbonated water in a thread a few months back. Go get a $0.99 bottle of carbonated water, a clean microfiber cloth, pour a little on the cloth and scrub hard. Continue to put a little more on the cloth when it gets dry and repeat several times on stained area until seat appears damp. Let dry (usually takes at least a day) note that it may look worse at first because your seat will be wet and look dark and more stained than before but its not. Once it dries you'll never know what happened. I had a black ink pen bust in my back pocket one day. Was sitting in my car for several hours and didn't know. When I got home I saw my entire seat soaked with black ink. I thought I was doomed! Let several days pass and the ink dried. Thought F*** it and tried the carbonated water since I've had success in the past... Amazed it came out 100% its seriously a miracle cleaner!
You'll be blown away how much dirt transfers to the towel instantly
