    PIE Aux input, hardwired power to Sirius, Carpeted bed platform to go w/ Adventure Tent. (Next up: always on power outlet w/ incab inverter, dual battery and 'Acc on' switch w/o key)
    Hello Everyone;
    Ive been lurking on this site for a couple months so I thought I should join as I have found some good info on how to mod my tacoma (and to show off my work too:D)

    I bought my '06 TRD AC Sport last November as we needed a truck to haul hay and stuff for our small horse farm and also as a secondary vehicle for me and my Jeep Wrangler. I thought my truck would just a utility vehicle and I wouldnt do too much modification (except for adding an aux input).
    Last month, my wife and I went to the Firefly Music Festival that has onsite car camping. We were traveling with another couple so we knew that space would be tight. So I looked into building a platform to put a tent on top of the bed and thats when I discovered the Adventure Tent. After doing some research I though this would be better than the others and WOW was that a hard item to come by. Luckily I found one used and was glad I did as I saw a campright at the festival and I liked mine better. I built a carpeted bed platform to fit my air mattress above the wheel wells.
    The next mod was adding a PIE adapter to get an AUX input. Very simple mod. Just take of the dash cover, plug it into the back if the stock stereo and its done. Little harder was doing the add-a-fuse and new power outlet for the sirius radio.....

    Since it looks like we will be using the truck for camping, I have come up with a few more mods...
    1) Add a power outlet in the center console, maybe 'always on'. I may add an indash switch so I can turn it off when not in use - not sure if really necessary though. I would also be plugging this inverter into the outlet so I have still have the PO, and a USB with two AC plugs. Im not sure if I will permanently mount it, but I though about cutting a hole in the consoles back cup holders and making it a bit more flush.
    2) Install a switch to turn on the accessories without a key - so I can listen to the radio with the doors open and not hear the door chime and to be able to keep things charging while being able to lock the doors at the same time (which could make needing an 'always on' outlet moot)
    3) Adding an AUX input switch so I can switch between my iphone and sirius w/o having to unplug sirius (and cleans up wires)
    4) Since we'll be using this for more [festival] camping, we want access to more power so I want to add a 2nd battery for the accessories, which will eventually have a solar power charging station as well. Ive done a little research and there are some set ups for $100, but I may just spend the extra $$$ and go for the computer controlled modules, like IBS.
    5) In conjunction w/ #4, I will hardwire the stock inverter to always be at 400w and directly linked to the 2nd battery so I can have power w/o having to turn the engine on or leave a key in.

    Anyway, glad to be here and I look forward to everyone's help and helping out when I can

    Welcome!

    I think you can delete the door chime if you want.. Someone will "chime" :) in with that maybe.
    You can try searching for remove door chime.

    But then you wouldn't be able to lock the doors like you said.. which I understand why you wouldn't want that. Especially with your keys in.
