So I'm looking to tint my headlights and my fog lights on my 2013 Tacoma, but I've seen "horror" stories of people having HID's and getting their lights tinted, then having the lenses crack or be some weird deformation in the tint.

What I wanna know is if I have 55W 6000k HID headlight inserts (no brights), and 35W 6000K HIGH fog lights, so with that output, if I tint my head lights and fog lights slightly to darken them, NOT full black tint, just a smoke, will they deform/melt/crack my housing?

How about projector retrofits in both.... Then u can paint the reflector bowls and run hid without issue.

I was looking into that also, but the issue still stands if I get my head lights done, is my fog lights are still gonna be the normal chrome looking

To try and relevantly answer your question instead of chanting "retrofit" that seems to happen here too often (normally in vein).

I've only heard the melting happening with tint film (like window film), Not spray on tint... I'd imagine tinting the lenses with spray won't melt, but possibly with projectors since the beam is being focused on 1 portion of the headlights (think magnifying glass) instead of being spread out without projectors.

You can do a BHLM too, But i'm sure you already knew that was an option.

okay that sounds reasonable. Makes sense that the actual window tint would do it but not spray, and with the scattered light would be less concentrated and cause a magnifying effect.

So if i can find someone in flagstaff that would do them i would be happy
