Yeah that's how I feel too.
If I come across another turbo for a good price I'll pick it up. If not I'll hold on to this one and upgrade after I get all the bugs worked out.

 

Also torspd when you had your engine built I'm guessing the shop wasnt experts at building 1GR motors. I found a good shop that has built alot of high horsepower motors (mostly Chevy) but never 2jz. Their price is under $1000, where all the bit 2jz shops want like $2200.
I really don't want to pay the extra money...

Yes. LCE Performance is a Toyota engine expert, and had built many 1GRs prior to mine getting there.

Darton East hasn't done one prior to mine. But I still have full faith in their abilities.

Never hurts to ask. Darton East is a tad backed up right now, so time wise you would possibly have a faster return from LCE. IF they say they can.

yea you want a place that knows Toyota engines. I wouldn't go to a Chevy place honestly..

 

Alright...waiting on one more package before the motor can be sent off!

I've talked to 3 companies by email who all really want to build my motor. They have all built 8sec supras and numerous 1000+HP street ones.
So the next step is to receive rough estimates and talk over the phone.
It's all going to come down to customer service, cost, and location in order of importance.
The top contenders are: GSS speed shop-Carlton TX, MVP Motorsports-Bridgeport Texas, Sound performance-Illinoise.

 

I've been to MVP Motorsports. They've been at it a while. Saw them most recently at The Texas Mile. They will also be here at Hennessey in Sealy, during TX2K13.

 

Alright while waiting on motor stuff to get in I put in leather power bucket seats from an Acura TL.

Also a pic of some parts I have in. Waiting on rods and pistons, but they are in route now.

 

I also been working on a buddy of mine's truck. Its a 2011GMC 4door, with built 6.0 and 76mm turbo.
I finished welding up his intercooler piping and all thats left is mount coil packs, hook up meth, and some vacuum lines.

 

I wish my build was coming along this fast!

Yours, not his. Mine hasn't had a built engine in it since November '10. I feel his pain.

I don't know how that price is compared to any other places. I can only say call and compare.

Also, have you called Jotech in Dallas? I completely forgot to mention them before.

It seems to be the going rate for any shop that specializes in supras.

Yeah I'll def need some upgraded fuel injectors. Honestly I'm kind of on the fence about power. I hate spending a ton of money and not crank up the power but at the same time I want to be able to drive it on weekend cruises.

Finally got all the pieces to the puzzle...well a small part of the puzzle atleast. lol

Hopefully sending to the engine builder within the next couple weeks.
