I would appreciate any input on the process. What size crush washer is needed on the drain bolt. You have to put a new one on, correct? I don't what type of AFT is in the truck currently. Is it okay to add any ATF which meets standards for the vehicle? I think I am going to stay away from synthetic, because I don't think that is what is in it. Is it okay to mix different ATF's? I am just going to remove the ATF partially and than fill it back up.

I talked to my friend who is a mechanic by trade. He swears that ATF should not be touched. I drained 4 quarts today and added 4 quarts of Autozone ATF ($5 each) which stated it was compatible with Dextron III. Makes sense to change the ATF regularly. I am anticipating replacing another 4 quarts in 20,000 miles. I will be doing the same with my Sienna minivan.

I used the oil that the manual said to use, but you are right on the dipstick it says Dex II. Any ideas on what I should do now that I mixed Dex II and Dextron III?

Google review found that Dextron II can be replaced by Dextron III. Live and learn. The Autozone ATF says it is compatible with Dextron II also.

I would appreciate it if a moderator would move this to the 4 cylinder forum for further review.

I bought a generic m14 copper crush washer (no local toyota dealership), but I did not end up using it, because original crush washer worked well with no leaks.

I did the same thing before I realized I'd jacked up.

    Still seems to be OK

Not really necessary, since this AT issue is not motor-specific.
