looking at this. could i loosen the push rod. set the pedal height a little farther from the floor. tighten the push rod back down. set the pedal height back down (toward the floor). would this cause the clutch engage higher in the stroke?

Do you mean that it won't disengage until its close to the floor? If the clutch is not fully disengaging, it will be hard to get the transmission in gear, and will be hard to shift. I would check the system for any obvious leaks and then bleed it.

It will engage fine at the bottom of the stroke. I want it engage more toward the top of the stroke.

Right, the clutch starts to "bite" right off the floor. Bleed the clutch.. there is likely air in the line.

You mentioned here it engages fine at the bottom, in order for anyone to help you with this we need to make sure we all know what is what here...

Now, when your at the bottom of the stroke, pedal at the floor; that is actually where the clutch is disengaged... With that in mind here and if I understand what your trying to tell us, your clutch disengages fine, but only at the bottom of the stroke, or when you have the clutch pedal at the floorboard... This true???

If so, then what you are asking is, there anyway to move the disengagement further from the floor board... This correct???

We just need to make sure we are thinking on the same page here before you go and change things...

I know from my own 5 speed manual, it doesn't disengage the clutch till the pedal is almost to the floor... Then as I am releasing as to engage the clutch to get the truck moving, its just up off the floor really close to the floor board... I hate that also, is that what you have with yours that you are wanting some help with???

I hope this to be what you are talking about with yours, as I want to know if this can be something not setup right or as mentioned already, possible air in the system... Hope this helps get everyone on the same wave-length, so as to address this issue with you guys that know...

For me the real issue that is somewhat hard to deal with is in engaging the clutch as I come up with the pedal from the floor. I just would like alittle more pedal travel to get the clutch all locked up and engaged.

I certainly hope the OP of this thread doesn't mind me trying to make sure we are all on the same page here with what is going on with his/her truck, as all I have intended is for everyone on the same page to better identify his/our issue here.

If I have stepped out of place and on toes here, please forgive me and be sure to tell me to not but in on things and I will gladly respect that...

You are 100% correct. It shifts fine but you have to be almost to the floor. I don't want to have to push so far to shift

I understand exactly for sure now... Now the part to clutch it I noticed the first time I drove a Tacoma there was a sort of small pocket molded into the floor pan where the clutch pedal goes on up in there alittle farther... I have to make sure I get in the habbit and stay in the habbit of tagging the floor there LOL...

The real issue with me is during the week I use this truck as my go to work truck... I have to wear these boots I have to work and me having these Fred Flintstone- fat wide feet that I do and then add the boots on top of them, they don't fit in the floor of the tacoma really well when shifting...

I have actually found that I have the seat one notch closer during the week to help with making sure I get the the clutch pedal to the floor, than I do on the weekends when I am not wearing the boots... It puts me way to close to the steering wheel and its not at all comfy... I would be a few clicks moved back if this was not a manual tranny, but the manual tranny is what I wanted in this truck. Just need the steering wheel farther forward I guess, least with the clutch setup as is and for me anyway...

My bigger issue is when engaging the clutch it starts to engage right off the floor and I don't care for that at all, something I have been working on getting use to...

These manual clutches as they are now with the slave cylinder doing all the work and all, I don't think they are adjustable really. Our fearless Gov't. don't like things adjustable because guys like most of us on this forum change things to often and make things we don't like, better LOL... I hope there is something we can do with these to move the engage and disengage point, but I fear there isn't. Then maybe its the air in the system as mentioned, I will be checking into this. I like the keep the fluid clean and mostly clear in the brake master cylinder as well as the clutch tank...
