Ryno All Terrain Products LLC is ready to offer a new product for 1st gen Tacomas. This thread is to gather info on interest and answer any questions. I plan to run a group buy soon if I get some interest.

It's a rear plate steel bumper for a 1st generation Tacoma. 3/16" steel plate, cnc plasma cut so everything is square and even, and 1/4" mounting brackets that the bumper is welded around. Integrated hitch tied into bumper and mounting brackets with heavy square tubing. Welded strong and straight. 1" thick shackle mounts welded directly to the mounting brackets. 4" round light holes are standard. I can also alter holes and such for additional fees.

I am looking into a tire carrier addition, but need some time to design it.

I will build these to order and it will be un-painted bare steel. Lead time is approximately 2 weeks.

Price will be $625 plus shipping. My price is a little higher than I planned because of the new online sales tax deal. Gotta pay the tax on it so I factored it into the price.

    Thoughts, questions, interest?

Below are a couple other simple rear bumpers that I could build also. One rectangular tube bumper and one round tube bumper.

This rectangular tube bumper would be 6"x2" tube, 1/4" wall thickness. 1/4" mounting brackets and end caps on the tube. 1" thick shackle mounts, standard 2" hitch tube. I will also mount a flip up license plate holder over hitch tube for $35. Light holes/mounts are not included but can be added for extra.
The estimated weight is 90 lbs. $450 + shipping

Alone the bumper looks great, seems more suited for a jeep though or maybe an FJ. Seems too bulky and boxy for a tacoma, especially compared with the sleek tube bumpers now.

Yeah it is a little bulky looking, but in a ballsy way...how heavy is it? Is that receiver as suitable for towing as my add on is?

I have done all the hi-pro mods for a life time, since I got this truck at a great price, I will be happy with showroom new.
I like it. Its got a good shape to it, and it looks stout!

The design looks good but like others said its probably too bulky , good price though, if you make it sleeker I might consider buying one

Tube just isn't my style.

Ballsy... I like that! It's about 125 lbs. A factory hitch is 55 lbs. The hitch is welded to both the 3/16" bumper shell and a 1/4" thick square tube behind the bumper that is tied directly into the frame mounts. My modeling software says it's stronger than a class 3 hitch requirement. It's $700 to have the bumper certified as a class 3, so I would need a ton of interest to do that.

    Thanks!

The bumper is about 4.5" from the truck. I made it that because I wanted a usable step bumper like the factory one. I can easily modify the design to be slimmer if that will sell more.

    Just some comments/suggestions here:
    - I really like the look, don't care for tube-style rear bumpers
    - allow for a CB antenna stub mount on the corners
    - does it allow for the license plate light?
    - are those 2 holes for supplemental backup lites?
    - don't care for the d-rings (make them optional?)

This is what I'm using for a license plate light: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Xenon-White-12-LED-Bolt-On-LED-License-Plate-Light-Lamp-/130563821550
I drilled a small hole right above the plate and ran the wire through the bumper out of sight.

The cb mount would be tough because not everyone would want it. I would probably leave that up to the buyer.

The holes fit 4" round flush mount lights like I have in the pictures.

I can customize each order so no recovery points or no holes etc can be done.

If the corners were a little less crude and there was a swinging tire carrier, Id give you a debit card now.

cut all 90 degree angles w/ 45 degrees and I think it would look a lil less "bulky"

I use 45 degree angles on the corners to match the 45's at the license plate and on the shackle mounts.

    I don't follow what you're going for.

I think he means the top and bottom outside edges, like if you're looking at it from the side. I agree, they'd look better with a little bevel on them. Maybe make the angled piece on the corner bigger too.

Or make tube stuff already :p

I'll get a rear tube bumper designed this weekend. I'm working on the tire carrier now. Looks like it will be about a $350 addition. The hinge and latch aren't cheap and unfortunately I'm not in a position to make them myself.

I'm also working on a bumper similar to the one shown below. (Borrowed picture)
It has a hidden hitch behind the license plate. I would use a 1/4" thick tube for the main structure and the same mounting brackets and hitch tube I already use. I'm not sure on the price yet but I'm trying to keep it under $400 for the customer. I can build more than one if anyone else would want one.

Bumper looks good. The look of the bumper on the silver tacoma is exactly what I'm looking for. If I could get a bumper like that for close to $400 I'd be all over that!

The look of the current bumper is just a little boxy for me. It looks good and I like that it has the thick top plate for use as a step. If you take your current design and slim it down a little, then I'd be in for a rear bumper.

    Keep up the good work!

You SHOULD have better luck with a design like this and that price point is :D..;)...

Sadly if I wanted to replace the step & toe OEM it would be with another OEM...If I purchase an after-market it needs to WOW me :woot:and your 2nd idea is coming closer...
