First off, I'm new here and this is my first post. I drive a gold/tan 1999 XtraCab PreRunner with a 3.4L v6 engine. I don't know too much about vehicles, but I've always been a DIY kind of guy, and I like to learn as I go.

So here's what I need help with:
I'm hearing what Im going to describe as a clunking noise coming from somewhere in my front suspension. Now, I know enough that it's most likely my sway bar bushings, but I've taken a look at them and they seem pretty good and I can't see any light through them, and I've tugged on the bar and haven't really gotten any movement out of it. Is there any other way to test if my bushing are bad? Could it be another part that I don't see, or even know about, that needs to be replaced? I really don't want to have to buy new bushings only to find out that they weren't the problem, but should I go ahead and replace them and hope for the best?

Lowered 4/5 Stage 4 clutch. Fidanza flywheel. W58 trans, arias pistons, pauter rods, arp mains an head studs, cosmetic gasket, T3/t4 15psi and more coming!
Ball joints, control arm bushings, struts, sway bar links, a number of things is possible for a noise.

Thanks. I took it to Pep Boys and they said I had a bad front right strut. I'm going to have my mechanic at work take a look at it just to get a second opinion before making any purchases.

Strut is possible but most likely the mount/bearing is whats making the noise. Raising the truck up on a lift by the frame u can watch the mount and if it goes down when taking pressure off, its bad. Very little movement is normal. Also by raising it by the frame, stick a pry bar under the tire an pick up on it. That will tell if your ball joints are bad.
Don't jus "take" there word on something being bad. Ask to see it. I've worked at those places I know how it is. Not jus pep boys. Any place in general.

Just given you advice. Good luck.
