Only difference is the length of the housing.
Most likely, the M1-209 uses the same filter element as the shorter filter that Chris opened up. This is VERY common and was confirmed on a number of different brand filters, including Amsoil EAO.
You could have checked "Mobil-1"... the K&N, Mobil-1, and TRD are all the same filter.

for now I'm using the OEM filter but it's due to the freebie thing (haven't hit 100k miles yet). Although this does give me something to seriously think about when the time comes.

What kind of filter element is that on the 90915-20004?

As for filters, I've run a mix of YZZD3's, NAPA 1348's, and currently a NAPA 1516. I'm curious, I may go buy a 1348 and 1516 and cut them both open to see if there is a difference in filter media size.

I know it's a few bucks more, but you can order them from Amazon (prime is available for item) I think it's like 6 bucks single. Or you can buy them in a full or half case.

    Go here to see options.

If he doesn't want to spend $5, why the hell would he want to spend $6-$7?

    Titus-Will, with shipping, is $88 for a box of 20. $4.40 each.
Would be about $5 each for a box of 10 because of the $9 minimum shipping charge.

Detailed info on the NAPA (Wix) 1348 and 1516 direct from Wix's website.

Looks like the only differences are the height of the can and the nominal micron rating. For $13, I'll pick these up tomorrow while I'm in town and cut them open to see if there are any internal differences.

You can't go wrong in using an OEM, Purolater Pure 1 or Mobil 1 filter.

OEM all the way. No issues with it at all. The only other filter I used on this truck was a Bosch filter once. Nothing wrong with it at all but it is smaller and a little harder to get a hold of with my filter wrench. OEM gives no issues and as you can tell... most people here are in agreement with the OEM. OEM at the dealer cost me $4.50 which is about the only thing they don't rip me off on.

OEM filters only for this guy. You can snag them cheap on eBay if you don't feel like driving to the dealership.

Hands down OEM filters on anything I ever own. From being a former Nissan owner I know how much difference a OEM filter makes..

    Bosch are perfectly good filters.

But compared to the OEM Toyota filter, anything better than Fram is $2 or more higher, and no better than OEM.

My Toyotas get OEM filters. They used to get Purolator or Bosch (still have a couple of Purolators left for the Rav).
My motorcycle used to get Mobil-1 until they kicked the price up another $2. Now it gets either Purolator Pure-One or Bosch at half the price of the M1.
