I have been looking through this forum and you all have some great stuff that has helped me, so I hope you can answer a question cause I am new. To start of I have a new 2013 Nautical Blue, 4x4, V6 Double Cab in automatic (did not have manual ). I bought it on 17 June 2013 for $31,544 (tax, titles, fees included). The question I have was about the Volant Cold Air Intake (might be the wrong thread but multiple questions) and if anyone has opinions about it vs. K&N, AFE, etc. The other question is that I live in PA and the truck is registered in PA and I plan on keeping my HOR as PA, I am fortunately/unfortunately am moving to CA on military orders. So, can I put this on and still be ok or would I have to put on the stock intake go for the smog test then put it back on? I am also looking for some other mods I can do that do not require a mechanic (for now) rather do it myself and learn about my truck. I have only added cosmetic items, such as the bull bar in the front and the tube "nerf" steps. Any input would be great.

From what I have read, intakes don't really do anything for you on these trucks except for noise and minimal power difference. It already comes factory with a cold air intake, sort of. You would be better off just getting a replacement air filter like the AFE Pro Dry S.
