I'm 6'5 and it seems to be getting smaller, especially since it doesn't have more than two doors on the extended cab. Of course I may need to be upgrading to the tundra.

Yeah your height certainly does play a part, I really can't say whether the 2nd gen will offer enough room to be "comfortable" but I do believe offers more room. The 2nd gens went to a mid size chassis and frame, for a man of your size, I can only see positive results. The one quality of the 2nd gens that I really dig is the timing chains, that is a step in the right direction. I did drive the tundra, and it was nice, but for a guy, 5'10" 200lbs, I had all the room in the world, but I felt the truck itself was too big. For me the Tacoma just fit the bill, you on the other hand need to find what you really need, but for the tacoma, it has the capabilities you'll need.

My dad has an 03 tacoma extended cab. Had it not been for the 2nd gen coming out I'd be on rangerworld or dakotaworld or something right now. Yes the new trucks have a few issues, just as most newer models do. But my '08 seems to be fine, and it is coming up on 15K. I'm 6'3" and fitting in the gen-2 taco is much easier than my dad's old taco. (I'm tall in the torso I'm 6'3" with only a 31" inseam.)

Try adjusting the temperature control. I hear noise when it's about the 1-2 o-clock position. No noise if full heat or cool. Hope this might help...

i hear it at all temp ranges. although, it is more noticable on cold mornings than warm mornings. i think outside temp may affect it.

I just let go of my '99 Xcab Limited 4x4 TRD with only 60,000 miles. I bought it new also. I just had the TSB done on this '08 Access cab and I don't regret moving to it at all anymore. This truck is slightly larger, has more comfortable seats, and the opening rear doors are great. It rides better, has lots more power, better transmission, and gets better mileage. There are some things I still liked better about the '99 but it was a Limited which is not offered anymore. Believe it or not according to NADA the '99 had a higher msrp than this '08.
