    Clazzio seat covers,
Alright motor heads ... why does the 2.7 take more oil on a change than the 4.0 whether that engine is in a 2WD (except PreRunner), 4WD, or PreRunner?

2.7 works harder, extra capacity gives the oil more time the pan to cool? They couldn't fit a bigger pan on the 4.0 without it hanging too low or raising the motor effecting the handling due to the higher center of gravity and the resulting hood bulge would not allow for the highly desirable and excellently style scoop? The 2.7 was designed back in the day when oil quality was less thus requiring more? 'Cause they wanted to? Because they knew it would be a topic of discussion on TW at some point and someone has now won the office pool? One of the engineers threw a fit and got his way over the objections of the rest of the staff who said 5.5 qts is enough and would be less confusing to the oil change techs?

    Just guessing!
