I always forget about the power train warranty, too, along with the 8/80 emissions warranty, though I think that's a federal requirement.

My guess is if they do anything at all, it'll be a 50% discount on parts & labor. That's how the couple of disputes in the past I've had like this have worked out. In my experience, Toyota USA leaves it to their "independently owned and operated" dealers to decide unless it is an egregious violation. Hopefully you'll fare better than that.

For instance I was recently working with a Toyots dealer on a used truck. I asked if it was CPO, they said "we don't do CPO here". Waa? Turns out they were selling vehicles as CPO without spending the $$$ on doing the inspections. Toyota nabbed them & yanked them from selling CPO.

In Massachusetts any used car bought from a dealer comes with the following warranty:

    Mileage Warranty Period
Less than 40,000 miles 90 days or 3,750 miles, whichever comes first
40,000 to 79,999 miles60 days or 2,500 miles, whichever comes first
80,000 to 124,999 miles30 days or 1,250 miles, whichever comes first
125,000 miles or overNo express warranty

He would have to check for the state he bought it in.
