They would be considered a Toyota factory option as the vehicles specific code changes when you order the leather package, and is submitted to the Toyota factory order process as such. I assume it triggers the manufacture or shipment of the correct leather package to the dealer for install. But for all intents and purpose, it is a factory option here in Canada.

My bad. I had erred in thinking your main intent was commenting towards anyone who is buying a car. Oh well.

It is technically a factory option installed at port in Canada...

Similarly, South East Toyota has offered factory leather seats for a while. I believe the XSP-X is a good example of port installed "factory" options.

    Update on the first page:

:( :) We went to the dealership, great experience, wife fell in love with the 4runner, so did I, and we bought one. Trail edition, black.

Hehehe it better not be. Not one bleeping scratch on it. We tested a magnetic grey one, I loved the colour, but the wife nixed it, so we "agreed" on black. They are getting one that was due for a Quebec dealership dropped in Brockville instead on Friday. We laughed about the scratches, and he said we will both go over the 4runner with a fine tooth comb before I sign off on it. If this ends up having scratches on it, I'm going to buy a bicycle instead...

I just couldn't pass it up..

My truck has what I thought were "factory" leather seats, but now I'm not sure. If the dealer installed leather surfaces sent from the factory, they did a pretty good job. No complaints. Though I guess I'd like to believe they were factory-installed.

Canadian trucks have a factory leather option
