Loading heavy dive gear and what not, it gets old having to repeatedly extract and replace tanks from the front of the bed. I was thinking that there must be a better way.

I had seen the Ford / Chevy mid box conversions like below and thought this was what I was looking for. Either that or a conversion that just adds forward drop gates or doors on the sides of the bed.

Being able to access the front of the bed from the sides would make SO much sense.

Has anyone seen anything like this on a Tacoma?

12v always on power point mod, tailgate anti-theft, Addl bed tiedowns, flyzeye dash lights, map lites with dome lite mod, bed stiffeners, air bags, brake controller, always on fog lights,
Saw a fellow diver mount tank racks to the bed rail system. Tanks stood upright and were accessable from over the side. Ok if you have a shell top, not ok with tonneau cover. Wish I had pics to show.

"And what not" is one of the most annoying phrases I've ever heard.

Built a PVC rack for my tanks. It s as wide as the bed and lays flat behind the wheel wells. Holds 6 tanks. Tanks lie on it. PVC top and bottom (front and back depending how you describe it) with pvc t's and pipe to separate the tanks . like a pool noodle rack only stronger - 1 piece, no string Rest of gear is in large Rubbermaid bins at I can reach. With the rubber bedmat everything stays in place.

Well, when I only have 6 tanks it's not that big a deal. Although it's still a pain dragging gear boxes over all that.

When we have tanks for a long weekend, multiple sets of steel tanks, stages, deco, it adds up. Also scooters and other crap. Try to keep that weight forward.
