When I replaced my aging 2001 F150 last fall with a $16K 2012 base Tacoma, I took some good-natured teasing from my next door neighbor about why I didn't buy a *man* truck vs a *bitch* truck. In March he replaced his equally aged 2002 F150 with a $39K 2013 F150 with eco-boost. He pointed out numerous times that his eco-boost nearly equaled my *tiny* engine for fuel mileage. Things went well for him the first 5k miles, but since mid June he has had a platitude of engine management problems and transmission shift issues which seems to have gotten worse every time the dealer works on it.

He didn't say a word this morning when I teased him "Who has the bitch truck now ? :D

Do you know more details of the issues he has? I really thought Ford wouldn't screw up their money making F150 line-up. BTW 2002 = aged? My Taco is a 2001- she is no where near retirement.

He says when it rains at times the engine won't accelerate or accelerates very slowly, he says twice it went into *limp mode*( I told him he should talk to his doctor, he wasn't amused. ) He says he had to drive on the shoulder of the road at 10mph .

He says the tranny issue is that it sometimes *searches* ( shifts between gears continuously) when driving about 45 mph.

As for the demise of both of our F150's, rust was the main culprip on mine, I slammed the door one day and the rocker panel fell off. That and a emission control problem that was going to cost $1500 to fix just to pass inspection The truck was work about $400 at that point.

My neighbors 2002 F15O had equally bad rust issues and a engine that leaked a quart of oil every 3-4 days.
