Didn't know FRAM bought out Champion Labs until this thread, that just gives FRAM more of a monopoly over the market. Bigger Orange walls at Wally World maybe? Great I can only imagine the idea of the Orange can now having the e-core. there are several documented cases of the encore collapsing over at BITOG.

    Jumper,
I apoligize for the "teenage car guy remark", it was uncalled for and unprofessional. I do however take it very personally when people just bash our companies products and me personally based on nothing more than hearsay and internet knowledge. The guys cutting open filters and publishing "filter studies" never have any scientific data that shows how much dirt a filter rremoves from your oil, only opinions based on visual data, no testing. We are an American company making 95% of our filters in the USA. We make many brands of OE filters and people who believe that steel end caps and lots of paper make a good filter are just misinformed about filtration. We sponsor regular lab visits all the time for forum car guys, you can read about what was learned on BITOG, Jeep forum and many others. We always stand behind our products, 100% as we know they work. Again, didnt mean to insult anyone here, just wishing people would take the time to to learn the science instead repeating "what they heard". I would really like to see you come to our labs, if your interested, just email me your contact info and the next time we do a visit, I will invite you and pay for your travel expenses.

I am actually on that forum all the time, even include my email and cell number in my signature. That forum does'nt inform you when you get a response to a post, that is why I always include contact info.

I have a graduate degree in engineering and have been maintaining vehicles for 30 years...and I have YET to see a FRAM filter fail in use. While I personally like WIX filters, I have been buying the FRAM PH8A for decades and haven't seen a problem.

If you use the "optical density" method of checking your oil (if you can't see through the oil on the dip stick, change it), you will see good engine life REGARDLESS of the brand of filter.

The detergents in oil are there to keep the dirt and particles in suspension, to be removed by the filter. One the filter loads up or the oil can no longer have the capacity to keep the dirt in suspension, then it turns dark.

So, trust your dad, and when you get a job, you can buy whatever filters you want.

    Howard

Thanks for the offer, I live in AZ so it would be tough. If anyone more local would like to take my spot I would gladly give them my tour
