I have a 2009 Toyota Tacoma SR5 and took the tailgate off to check on something. When I pulled it off I noticed I had wires going to the lock fora lockable tailgate. Does anyone know if this is supposed to work, I also found in my truck when I bought it a wiring harness for a back up camera. I was wondering if anyone else had issues like this or may know if the electric tailgate lock is supposed to work in the tailgate! Thanks everyone!

The back up camera is in the tailgate handle, if so equipped. Sounds like you have or are supposed to have a back up camera.

do you have the power operated pop and lock? if not, most likely it's the wiring for the back up camera.

I'm going with back up camera harness. I have no camera, but have the wires. They just "dead end" inside the tailgate. Probably easier to stock and build with one harness instead of two different styles.

So how hard is to install back up camera with that wiring being in place?
