Doesn't look like you gain much accessibility with those. Not sure if that is what you are going for though. I'm waiting until I can spring for those automatic ones that pop down when you open the doors. My wife is short and those provide a good amount of stepping height reduction...guess I'm off topic.

In any case maybe you should post what you want out of them for a relevant response.

That Trail Steps is similar to Iron Cross HD, and the HD looks more beefy. Personally, I like a retractable one also just like this - http://4wheelonline.com/Amp_Research_Power_Step.2498. It is more expensive than other conventional side steps though I think it's worth the extra cost considering its quality and functionality.

Ya they look cool coming out and goin in, but remember, moving parts will always eventually fail lol. I have a buddy with those on his gmc and he thought they were cool too until they became inconsistent and now only one comes down when it feels like it and the other just doesn't...

That sucks. But for me it isn't about looks (at least for steps). I like the retractable ones because the wife and kids will gain about 6 or 8 inches of easier stepping without hurting ground clearance. Saw stock ones on a Lincoln SUV and was sold. Will be getting a set after my promotion next year. Hopefully they don't end up like your friend's.

Ya I guess those are actually pretty useful for smaller kids... I don’t think the OP is coming back so ill just throw out my ideas anyways lol. I was pretty surprised at the body armor ones. I didn’t think they would be as useful as they are. They are nice and tight to the body yet still provide a useful step for my kid and girlfriend. As well, the way they are design I don’t bump or rub them as I get out of the truck like I use to do with my n-fab steps. As for the "armor" claim, that would have to be VERY light abuse, not because they product itself is weak but because it uses the factory mounting holes. If you some how fab something up to frame mount them then you’re talking. The step bar itself is HEAVY DUTY, emphasis on the word HEAVY, I installed them by myself and I don’t recommend that to anyone lol. If you want the clearance and a somewhat useable step and don’t REALLY need armor then I would say it’s a good choice. Oh and they do a good job of blocking rocks kicking up and chipping paint. Hopfully this answers a couple questions that were not asked...

Are they mounted to the body of the truck or the chassis. Also, how durable are they?
